By Any Measure

A beautiul, sunny, first full day in Paris today.  We took a leisurely stroll around our Marais neighborhood, and saw the famous lock bridge, and went to the also famous Notre Dame.

The start to our trip caused us no little angst, as our flight from Denver to Chicago was delayed almost 3 hours, making our connection to Paris extremely tight.  But thanks to some sage advice from Ray and Jill, we had ordered up a cart to take us through the airport to our connecting flight, just making it before they closed the door.  We were tired, but pleased, tavelers by the time we made it to our accomodation in Paris.

Our digs here are a sixth (top) floor, 3 bedroom apartment.  Our view is of Notre Dame on it's little river island, a stones throw away, and the Seine itself.  It was an AirBnB find, and is central to the museums... score!  Our host is a photographer, and an iteresting fellow... very accomodating and helpful.  He keeps a small office at the apartment, but is not here much at all.

And we've discovered the Batobus... a water bus that makes stops up and down the Seine, near all of the museums that line the river.  There's a stop right near our apartment, so we'll be able to take it to the attractions that are too far for walking.

Tomorrow we will hit the Orsay and l'Orangerie museums for a good dose of the Impressionists.  Sunday is the only day for which rain is predicted, so we'll do the Louvre then.  The Picasso museum is near us, so we will walk there one day, and we're hoping for another sunny day to stroll the gardens of the nearby Rodin museum.  So little time, and so much art!

Notre Dame is rather spectacular!

So is she!
